🏀 Winning Isn’t Everything: A Lesson from an Unexpected Source
After a basketball tournament, my daughter Mia and I stopped by Cousins Submarines, Inc.. As she was getting her sandwich, the employee asked, "How was the tournament?"
Mia proudly replied, "Great, we won."
The sandwich-maker smiled and said, "Congrats!"
I added, "Winning always makes things better."
But what he said next struck me: "Yes and no. You also need to learn how to lose in life."
This simple exchange reminded me of a crucial leadership lesson: Success isn't just about winning. True growth happens when we learn from our losses.
As leaders, it's important to teach our teams how to handle setbacks with grace and resilience. Winning is great, but knowing how to lose and come back stronger is what truly defines success.
